Global Stablecoin Regulation
As of 2025, Egypt maintains a prohibition-by-default stance: issuing, trading, promoting, or operating platforms for cryptoassets (including stablecoins) is illegal without prior approval from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE). No approvals for stablecoin issuance or trading have been disclosed to date. Public use is therefore legally risky, despite occasional opinion pieces urging legalization.
