Mentoring

Mentoring

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is when an individual offers to provide support and guidance to someone less experienced in a particular area to help them with their career or professional development.  It can be useful if you are thinking of developing your career, returning to work after a break, or if you want to develop new skills.

The new IOP mentoring service allows members to match themselves with other members who wish to be mentored or act as mentors.  Registration is online, and initial contact is made via Institute staff.  When you have registered, you will be able to search for an appropriate match, depending on your needs and experience.

Other support

We have produced a book Working Together to provide more information about mentoring and to help participants to get the most from the relationship. For a PDF version of Working Together click here (members only). To request a hard copy or large print version of this booklet, email members.careers@iop.org.

We are also able to deliver short mentoring workshops to groups of members and business affiliates - please contact us for more information.
