How to join the Institute of Physics online...
Affiliate Membership
For those who wish to join the Institute of Physics as an Affiliate in order to gain immediate access to the online benefits and services of membership.
Joining online means that you will automatically become an Affiliate of the Institute and you will be able to access the online services for members. If you have a degree in physics, we will contact you very soon as you may be able to change your membership grade.
Joining online gives you two options: you can join for a year or sign up for a 3 month trial
- If you would like to join for a year, your membership will run for a year from your payment date and will cost £86. We will call you soon after you join to welcome you to the Institute, to confirm that your membership grade is appropriate to your circumstances and to ensure that you are fully aware of the benefits to which your are entitled.
- Or, if you would like, you can trial IOP membership for a 3 month basis for just £25. This gives you access to all member benefits during that period.
Once you pay online, you will receive an e-mail from us confirming your application has been received and giving you your login information.
Student Membership
For those who are enrolled on a full-time physics-related honours degree course at university undergraduate level.
Other grades of Membership
Application for all other grades of membership are made by downloading a form and posting it to us together with the appropriate supporting evidence.
