Call for abstracts

The conference format will be a mixture of invited lectures from distinguished national and international scientists on a range of topics of current interest, contributed talks, poster sessions and a suppliers’ exhibition. The meeting is an ideal platform for early career researchers and contributions from postgraduates and post docs are particularly encouraged.

Submission:

Full on-line submission of your personal details and abstract text is available and is the preferred method.  Please read the following instructions prior to submitting your abstract; failure to adhere to these instructions may result in your abstract being reproduced in sub-optimal quality.

  • Abstract deadline: 14 January 2009
  • Abstracts length: maximum of 250 words
  • Paper Size: A4 (210mm x 297mm)
  • Images/Figures*: One permitted - the image should be legible when reproduced in black and white.
  • References*: Maximum of three permitted
  • File Format: MS word document file or plain text
  • Indicate the corresponding and/or presenting author
  • Indicate your preference for oral or poster presentation - the committee will note your preference but cannot guarantee your preferred choice
  • Select whether the work is predominantly student work or not
  • Submit the title in lower case with only the first letter Capitalised


*Authors including figures or references are recommended to upload a word document file.

If you are unable to submit your abstract using the on-line tool, please send an electronic copy to dawn.stewart_AT_Iop.org including the relevant information as above. Failure to provide the requested information, may result in your abstract being rejected.

Abstract confirmation

Authors will receive confirmation of their submission by e-mail which will include an abstract reference number (e.g. MD-813-01). Please quote your reference number when making subsequent enquiries. Notification of acceptance will be sent by 30 January 2009.

Abstract amendments:

Authors are able to amend their abstract prior to the submission deadline. Please log on to the members area using the username and password provided in your confirmation e-mail or by using your Institute username and password. Once logged on to the members area, follow the link and instructions from 'My abstract submissions'.
